Gentleman Jack - Lookout Point

Director: Sally Wainwright

DOP: Matt Gray

Line Producer: Des Hughes

Gentleman Jack (formerly known as Shibden Hall) brings all the warmth, wit and complexity of the writing of Sally Wainwright (Happy Valley, Last Tango in Halifax) to the remarkable story of Anne Lister. Charismatic, swashbuckling Anne Lister – who walked like a man and charmed her way into high society – determines to transform the fate of her ancestral home Shibden Hall. To do this, she must re-open her coal mines and marry well. But Anne has no intention of marrying a man. True to her own nature, she plans to marry a woman – and embarks on an extraordinary, epic, unconventional love story.

We provided the full camera package to this 6 month production shooting over at Studio 81, Leeds, Shibden Hall in Halifax and a variety of locations across the north. Matt Gray chose Cooke Anamorphics for his desired look and from what we saw of dailies during the shoot the images are absolutely stunning, capturing the period in time and landscape of yorkshire in all it's glory. Until the production is released we can only give limited info on the shoot but head back here in a few months time for a full interview with Matt, his thought processes and decision making and how his selected package handled the shoot.

Set for release later this year.

Equipment supplied: 3x Arri Alexa Mini, 2x Sets of Cooke Anamorphic/i Prime Lenses, Set of TLS Rehoused Cooke Optics S/2S3 Panchro lenses.
